The Giving Tree

Please help our special families (chosen by ECKAN) who live in the Burlingame Community.

Each ornament (on the tree at City Hall) represents a present the special families have on their Christmas Wish List.

If you would like to help by purchasing an item for the families, directions are below.

  • Please choose your ornament off of the tree located at City Hall
  • Hand the ornament to Amy, Carol or Patty who will record your name and phone number along with the number on the ornament.
  • Go purchase the gift.
  • Bring the gift back to City Hall with your ornament by December 11th.
  • You can either wrap the gift or bring it back unwrapped.

If you do not want to purchase the gift, but would still like to help, please leave your monetary gift with Amy, Patty or Carol.   Monetary gifts will be used to purchase items off of the families Christmas Wish List.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

Best,

Patty Atchison

City Clerk

Excess Flow Valve Customer Notification

Excess Flow Valve Customer Notification

New Federal Regulation requires all natural gas utilities to notify customers regarding the availability of excess flow valves (EFV).

You may request that the City of Burlingame, gas department install an excess flow valve on the gas line to your property. EFV’s are mechanical shut-off devices that can be installed in the gas pipe running to the gas meter that feeds your property. An EFV is designed to shut off the flow of gas automatically if the service line breaks, for example, by an excavation accident. Stopping the flow of gas from a broken service line significantly reduces the risk of natural gas fire, explosion, personal injury, and/or property damage.

EFV’s are not designed to close if a leak occurs beyond the meter. EFV’s also may not close if the leak on the service line is small.

If you add additional gas appliances such as a pool heater, emergancy generator, or such the additional gas flow may cause the EFV to close.

If you notify the City of Burlingame that you want an EFV we will contact you to set up a date when we will install an EFV on your service line. The cost that will be billed to you to install an EFV will be $1000.

If it becomes necessary to maintain or replace the EFV on your service line we will maintain or replace the EFV at no charge to you.

EFV’s cannot be installed on some service lines due to high gas flow, low pressure or other factors. If you request an EFV we will inform you if your service line cannot accommodate an EFV.

For your safety always call 811 to have gas lines and other and other buried utilities marked before allowing anyone to dig in your yard

Waste Management Memorial Day Schedule

Memorial Day Schedule

Many of our locations will be closed for Memorial Day. Your scheduled waste collection could be provided 1 day late. Please ensure your containers are available for service.

Here are some steps you can take to prepare for your service:

  • Best practice is to place your container out the night before where allowed or by 5 a.m. on your service day

  • Keep your container accessible. Parked vehicles and other obstacles may prevent us from servicing your container

We appreciate your business, have a safe and happy Memorial Day!
