Part-Time Utility Clerk Position

The City of Burlingame is accepting applications for the Part-Time Utility Clerk Position.  The position requires knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, equipment, and standard clerical techniques (skilled in the operation of a calculator, computers, adding machines, telephone system, and other office machines).  Knowledge in account/record keeping and related work is desired.  Excellent customer service, organizational, public relations and communication skills are required in this position.  Position will be assisting the City Clerk and Utilities Clerk with various job duties as assigned.  Please send applications to the City Clerk, 101 East Santa Fe Ave, Burlingame, KS 66413 or email to cityhall@burlingameks.com.  Applications accepted until position filled (EOE/AA).

AN ORDINANCE REPEALING ORDINANCE 2156 ADDING SECTION 15-113(c) TO THE CODE OF BURLINGAME, KANSAS, RELATING TO BAD DEBT.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF BURLINGAME, KANSAS:

SECTION 1That Ordinance No. 2156 adding Section 15-113(c) to the Code of the City of Burlingame, Kansas providing that all bills which are determined to be bad debt and are turned over for outside collection, including the State of Kansas setoff program, shall be subject to a fee of twenty-five percent (25%) of the total of the delinquent amount.  This bad debt administrative charge shall be applied prior to referral for collection is hereby repealed.

SECTION 2: Ordinance No. 2156 is hereby repealed.

That this ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage, approval and publication in the Osage County Herald-Chronicle, the official City newspaper.

Ahoy Mateys, The captain has invited you to join our Pirate Crew as we sail the ocean blue on August 3, 2019 at the Burlingame Swimming Pool.

Please plan to join the Pirate Crew at the Burlingame Swimming Pool on Saturday, August 3, 2019 for the annual Community Swimming Party at 7:00 pm. Free and open to the public until 10:00 pm. After 10:00 pm, adults (over age of 18 and up) can swim until 11:00 pm.
Food, games and activities for everyone.

Employment Opportunities

The City of Burlingame has the following employment opportunities. If interested in any of the open positions, please contact City Hall at 785-654-2414 to secure an application. All applications are due to City Hall by April 12, 2019

Seasonal Help: This position will be 8 hour days 5 days a week during growing season. Interested persons must be at least 18 years of age and able to drive a dually pickup pulling a trailer. Job includes operating commercial grade zero turn mowers, weed eating, and edging all city owned property and including a property in Osage City. Individual must pass a pre-employment drug screen and would be subject to random testing throughout his/her employment with the city. Pay depending on experience.

Pool Manager: Qualified individual must be at least 18 years old and able to take and pass training to be WSI certified. He/She will be responsible for managing and scheduling all lifeguards, swimming lessons, cleanliness of the bathhouse and the pool area. Manager will be accountable for all money that goes through the pool admission and concessions. Position will require a daily inventory of concession stand. Candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and subject to random drug testing throughout employment. Pay depending on experience.

Lifeguard: Must be at least 15 years of age or older. Must be able to take and pass CPR and Lifeguard Training. A pre-employment drug screening is required and employee will also be subject to random drug testing throughout employment.

Each ornament (on the tree at City Hall) represents a present the special families have on their Christmas Wish List.

 

If you would like to help by purchasing an item for the families, directions are below.

  • Please choose your ornament off of the tree located at City Hall
  • Hand the ornament to Amy, Carol or Patty who will record your name and phone number along with the number on the ornament.
  • Go purchase the gift.
  • Bring the gift back to City Hall with your ornament by December 11th.
  • You can either wrap the gift or bring it back unwrapped.

If you do not want to purchase the gift, but would still like to help, please leave your monetary gift with Amy, Patty or Carol.   Monetary gifts will be used to purchase items off of the families Christmas Wish List.
